Jack and Joyce Mickle bought The Yogurt Shoppe Café in 1987 when it was a very small "yogurt shoppe". As time passed there came requests to add a lunch menu. Joyce, who loved to cook, began serving some of her favorite family dishes.
Jack, who was a former mayor of Columbus, loved people and quickly found that the restaurant kept him in touch with the people of the city he loved so much. He was in very early every morning and always had a joke and a story to share. Customers quickly became friends.
Jack died in 2006, but the business he built is still running the way he envisioned it. Jack and Joyce's daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Troy McKenzie now operate the Yogurt Shoppe Café. Joyce is still serving her family recipes from the kitchen.
"Many of our very first customers continue to visit us each week. We are very proud that we are continuing to build friendships with our customers. It is very rewarding to look up and see a familiar face in line and know that with so many choices out there, they chose to come in and have a meal with us."- Kelli McKenzie, owner.
